HB1022 Summary

• Establishes the Task Force on Sustainable Transportation Funding to study Illinois transportation infrastructure needs and revenue sources from federal and state gas taxes.

• Task Force composed of 4 legislative members (one from each of House/Senate majority and minority), 8 public members representing transportation industry and research, and 2 state department employees (IDOT and Department of Revenue).

• Requires Task Force to analyze funding gaps, research modernization alternatives including best practices from other states and user-based funding methods, and make recommendations to the Department of Transportation.

• Task Force must submit findings and recommendations report to the General Assembly by June 1, 2015.

• Act repeals on January 1, 2016.
