IL HB1138

Amends the Illinois Wildlife Code Section 2.33 to add prohibition on possessing wildlife or wildlife parts taken unlawfully in Illinois, other states, or other countries, regardless of whether the species is indigenous to Illinois.

Establishes a statute of limitations for unlawful wildlife possession that does not expire until 2 years after the possession has permanently ended.

Maintains existing prohibitions on various hunting and trapping methods including snares, ferrets, poisons, explosives, spears, and unauthorized weapons.

Preserves requirements for hunting permits, blaze orange clothing during deer season, and restrictions on hunting near dwellings and public rights-of-way.

Allows exceptions for licensed game breeders and disabled persons with permits to hunt from vehicles in accordance with administrative rules.
