IL HB1199

Prohibits any person or entity in Illinois from using electronic tracking devices to determine the location or movement of a person.

Defines electronic tracking device as any device attached to a vehicle that reveals its location or movement through electronic signals.

Allows tracking devices when: the vehicle owner/lessor/lessee consents; law enforcement uses them lawfully; a business tracks its own employee or contractor vehicles; a state agency tracks its own vehicles; or manufacturer-installed telematics services are used with owner consent.

Specifies that telematics services (including airbag deployment, crash notification, stolen vehicle location, emergency services integration) are exempt from the prohibition.

Establishes violation of this section as a Class A misdemeanor.
