IL HB1228

Establishes a financial incentive program beginning July 1, 2013, for current General Assembly members and annuitants of the General Assembly Retirement System to opt out of state health benefits.

Requires that any election to decline health benefits participation be irrevocable and made on a one-time basis only.

Caps financial incentives at 50% of the average cost of the most affordable state-offered health benefit plan for which the individual qualifies, as determined by the Director of Central Management Services.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
