IL HB1313

Amends the Code of Civil Procedure to establish a standard method for calculating reasonable attorney's fees in civil cases where statutes permit prevailing parties to recover such fees.

Courts must use the Laffey Matrix prepared by the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, adjusted using the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) for the Washington-Baltimore area.

Exempts cases where hourly rates for attorney's fees are already limited by statute from this requirement.
