IL HB1461

Allows surviving spouses of deceased retired members of the Illinois General Assembly to retain their spouse's special license plates if they transfer registration to their name within 90 days of death and remain Illinois residents.

Plates are issued to retired members who have served at least 6 years in the General Assembly, or are age 62+ with at least 4 years of service who retired before the 83rd General Assembly convening.

Plates are valid for 2-year periods beginning January 1st of odd-numbered years and ending December 31st of the subsequent even-numbered year.

Fees and procedures for retired member plates follow the same requirements as personalized plates under the Illinois Vehicle Code.

Act takes effect upon becoming law.
