IL HB1854

Expands the Flag Display Act to include Emergency Medical Services (EMS) crew members killed in the line of duty alongside military members, law enforcement officers, and firefighters.

Requires the Governor to issue notice for flags to fly at half-staff on the funeral day and the 2 days preceding it when an Illinois resident EMS member dies in the line of duty.

Designates the Department of Public Health to notify the Governor of deaths of Illinois resident EMS crew members in the line of duty.

Specifies that flags to be displayed at half-staff include the United States national flag and the State flag of Illinois (and military flag if applicable).

Clarifies that the act does not require removal of existing flags or physical modifications to state facilities that cannot accommodate the half-staff requirements.
