IL HB2220

Amends the Code of Civil Procedure Section 2-1117 regarding joint liability in civil actions involving bodily injury, death, or property damage based on negligence or strict product liability.

Defendants with less than 25% fault are severally liable (individually responsible only for their portion) for all damages except medical expenses.

Defendants with 25% or greater fault are jointly and severally liable (can be held responsible for full amount) for all damages except medical expenses.

All defendants remain jointly and severally liable for plaintiff's past and future medical and medically related expenses regardless of fault percentage.

Expands liability to include any third-party defendants who could have been sued by the plaintiff, removing previous exception for the plaintiff's employer.
