HB2226 Summary

• Amends the Illinois Pension Code to restrict creditable service for periods of service with labor organizations to only those where employee and employer contributions are received by the fund before the effective date of this act (98th General Assembly).

• Applies restrictions across multiple pension articles (Articles 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 15, 16, and 17) that previously allowed service credit for leaves of absence to work with labor organizations representing municipal employees.

• Designates the Illinois Municipal League and Will County Governmental League as participating instrumentalities only with respect to service on or before the effective date of this amendatory act.

• Effective immediately upon becoming law.
