HB2310 Summary

• Amends Section 15-111 of the Illinois Vehicle Code to extend weight allowances for special hauling vehicles manufactured prior to or in model year 2024 and first registered in Illinois prior to January 1, 2025 (previously 2014 and 2015).

• Allows 3-axle special hauling vehicles with 72-96 inch axle spacing to carry combined weights up to 36,000 pounds until the extended deadline, with new vehicles limited to 34,000 pounds.

• Permits 4-axle concrete mixer trucks manufactured before 2024 and registered before January 1, 2025 to exceed standard bridge formula weights when transporting plastic-state concrete on non-interstate highways.

• Extends the grandfather period for 5-axle special hauling vehicle combinations with semitrailers manufactured before 2024 to maintain 72,000 pound gross weight limits through January 1, 2025.

• Takes effect January 1, 2014.
