Department of Transportation must develop and publish a policy for notifying the public before construction projects that impact their communities, with completion by January 1, 2013.

Notification policy applies to construction projects excluding emergencies that require closure of a street or lane for more than 5 consecutive business days.

Department must notify local public officials and affected businesses of affected communities and provide local officials opportunity to request a meeting before closure begins.

Department shall work with affected stakeholders including residents, businesses, and community members before and during construction to mitigate and reduce project impacts through methods such as detour routing and temporary signage.
