IL HB2405

Requires each school board to establish full-day kindergarten programs beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, replacing the previous option to offer half-day or full-day attendance.

Removes the requirement that school boards maintain half-day kindergarten alongside full-day programs if full-day kindergarten is established.

Repeals Section 10-20.19a of the School Code on July 1, 2016, which previously allowed kindergartens to provide either half-day or full-day attendance.

Maintains existing requirements that kindergarten teachers hold a certificate or license as provided by law.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
