State Board of Education establishes Task Force on Civic Education with 13 members including legislators from both parties, teachers unions, school boards, media, non-profits, and higher education institutions

Task Force members serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for reasonable expenses and travel from State Board of Education appropriations

Task Force charged with analyzing current civic education in Illinois, reviewing best practices in other jurisdictions, and making recommendations to General Assembly on increasing civic literacy among youth

Task Force must submit findings and recommendations report to General Assembly by May 31, 2014, after which the Task Force is dissolved
