IL HB2590

Allows employers with at least 5 employees to seek orders of protection against individuals who have committed or threatened unlawful violence against employees at the workplace.

Defines "credible threat of violence" as statements or conduct that cause a reasonable person to fear for their safety or their immediate family's safety without serving a legitimate purpose.

Requires employers to file an affidavit demonstrating reasonable proof that an employee suffered unlawful violence or credible threats, and that great or irreparable harm has been suffered or is likely to be suffered.

Incorporates jurisdiction, venue, procedure, and enforcement provisions from the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986 to govern workplace violence protection orders.

Limits employer remedies under this Act to orders of protection while preserving any other remedies available to employers under other laws.
