IL HB2922

Amends the Public Utilities Act to require electric utilities and alternative retail electric suppliers to offer one or more renewable energy source options to customers, which may include renewable energy source default service.

Defines "renewable energy source" as electricity qualifying to receive renewable energy credit, and requires customers purchasing renewable options to pay associated costs while utilities recover administrative costs from all customers with Commission approval.

Renewable energy source default service may consist of all or a portion renewable energy with remainder filled by standard default service, with pricing subject to Illinois Commerce Commission approval.

Requires utilities to provide educational materials explaining renewable energy options and associated health and environmental benefits, and prohibits separate advertisement or sale of the renewable energy component as part of other electricity services.

Allows utilities to require minimum customer participation numbers or minimum load amounts with Commission approval, and permits payments to a renewable energy fund when renewable energy default service is unavailable at reasonable cost.
