IL HB2944

Expands the definition of "all pupils" for State testing purposes in grades 3-8 to include students enrolled in nonpublic schools recognized by the State Board of Education.

Makes testing of nonpublic school pupils optional and at the discretion of the parent or guardian, with tests administered at public schools in the same district at the same time as public school testing.

Allows the State Board of Education and school districts to charge a reasonable fee to nonpublic school pupils to cover the costs of test administration.

Requires the State Board of Education to adopt rules to implement these changes to assessment and accountability provisions.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
