HB2991 - Lion Meat Act

• Prohibits any person from slaughtering lions or possessing, breeding, importing, exporting, buying, or selling lions for the purpose of slaughter
• Makes it unlawful to slaughter lions for human consumption or to possess, sell, buy, or accept lion meat or products containing lion meat for human consumption
• Prohibits commercialization of lion meat including selling, bartering, purchasing, transporting, importing, exporting, or serving lion meat in restaurants or commercial establishments
• Violations are classified as Class A misdemeanors
• Director of Agriculture administers and enforces the Act with authority to adopt necessary rules
