IL HB3047

Creates the Governor's Office of New Americans within the Office of the Governor to develop and maintain an immigrant policy that builds on immigrant strengths and facilitates their path to self-sufficiency

Requires the Office of New Americans to identify strategic partnerships with state agencies and make recommendations for statewide policy and administrative changes to assist immigrants

Mandates each state agency under the Governor's jurisdiction develop a New American Plan that provides culturally and linguistically competent services tailored to immigrant populations and those with limited English proficiency

Requires state agencies to consider recommendations from the New Americans Immigrant Policy Council when creating their plans and submit plans to the Governor for approval
