IL HB3084

Requires students in grades 9-12 to complete at least 15 hours of community service each school year as a prerequisite for grade promotion and high school diploma.

Allows up to 5 of the 15 required hours to be performed by the student's parent or guardian if they participate with and at the same time as the student.

School boards must establish rules and procedures to implement the community service requirement.

Amends existing volunteer service credit program provisions to clarify that community service performed under this mandatory requirement does not qualify for additional volunteer service credit.

Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
