IL HB3279

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to enhance penalties for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor.

Changes contributing to the delinquency of a minor from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class 4 felony.

Increases penalties for contributing to criminal delinquency of a minor by raising each felony classification one level (Class 4 felony becomes Class 3, Class 3 becomes Class 2, Class 2 becomes Class 1, Class 1 becomes Class X).

Applies to adults 21 years and older who solicit, compel, or direct minors to commit offenses (felonies for minors under 17, misdemeanors for minors under 18).

If the minor commits first degree murder, the adult incurs the same penalty as first degree murder.
