IL HB3297

Increases penalties for sexual exploitation of a child from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class 4 felony for a first offense.

Raises penalties to a Class 3 felony for a second or subsequent violation of the same statute or a substantially similar law of another state.

Establishes Class 3 felony penalties when the offender has been previously convicted of any sex offense.

Establishes Class 3 felony penalties when the victim was under 13 years of age at the time of the offense.

Establishes Class 3 felony penalties when committed by a person 18 years or older on or within 500 feet of elementary or secondary school grounds while children are present.
