HB3382 Summary

• Beginning January 1, 2016, health care professionals applying for initial licensure in Illinois must complete a one-hour course or training program on identifying and reporting elder abuse and neglect.

• Beginning January 1, 2016, licensed health care professionals renewing their licenses must complete an additional one hour of continuing education consisting of the elder abuse and neglect training program.

• The Department on Aging shall establish and implement the standardized one-hour course or training program on elder abuse and neglect identification and reporting for use by all affected health care professions.

• The requirement applies to clinical psychologists, dentists, dental hygienists, physicians, nurses (LPN and RN), optometrists, and podiatric physicians under their respective licensing acts.
