IL HB3777

Amends Section 14-4.01 of the School Code to add subsection (c) making special education cooperatives established by school districts eligible for school maintenance project grants under the School Construction Law.

Modifies Section 5-100 of the School Construction Law to explicitly include special education cooperatives as eligible recipients of school maintenance project grants, with the same $50,000 per project maximum and matching fund requirements as school districts.

Allows special education cooperatives to receive grants for multiple projects in one fiscal year and requires them to provide local matching funds equal to the grant amount, with no entitlement to grants.

Requires the State Board of Education to adopt rules specifying application procedures, eligibility requirements, use restrictions, and accounting methods for both school districts and special education cooperatives receiving these grants.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
