HB4464 Summary

• Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to add aggravated battery against peace officers, community policing volunteers, firefighters, private security officers, correctional staff, and Department of Human Services employees to the list of offenses with restricted sentence credits.

• Prisoners convicted of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm or permanent disability/disfigurement to these protected individuals while performing official duties, preventing performance of duties, or in retaliation for duties shall receive no more than 4.5 days of sentence credit per month.

• Applies to offenses committed on or after the effective date of this amendatory act of the 98th General Assembly.

• The restriction applies whether the battery occurred while the officer was performing duties, being battered to prevent performance of duties, or being battered in retaliation for performing official duties.
