Department of State Police shall suspend a person's Firearm Owner's Identification Card for 5 years upon conviction of a third violation of the requirement to report lost or stolen firearms within 72 hours to local law enforcement.

Department of State Police shall suspend a person's concealed carry license for 5 years upon conviction of a third violation of the firearm loss or theft reporting requirement under Section 24-4.1 of the Criminal Code of 2012.

A third violation of the lost or stolen firearm reporting requirement is classified as a Class A misdemeanor and triggers the 5-year suspension of firearm identification card and concealed carry license.

A fourth or subsequent violation of the lost or stolen firearm reporting requirement is elevated from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class 4 felony.

Law enforcement agencies must take written reports of lost or stolen firearms and enter the firearm's serial number into the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) as soon as practical.
