Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board must work with a statewide Alzheimer's organization to develop training courses on Alzheimer's disease recognition and response techniques for police officers.

Police officers must satisfactorily complete an Alzheimer's disease education course before certification, effective immediately upon passage.

Office of the State Fire Marshal must develop Alzheimer's training courses, and firefighters seeking certification at level 1 or 2 must complete the training after the effective date.

Department of Public Health must work with a statewide Alzheimer's organization to develop training for emergency medical technicians; new EMTs must complete the course before certification, and currently certified EMTs must complete it within 18 months.

All training may be delivered via Internet, DVD, CD-ROM, or classroom instruction, with no train-the-trainer requirements.
