IL HB4633

Adds kidnapping and aggravated kidnaping to the list of offenses under Section 115-7.3 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for which evidence of prior offenses may be admitted at trial.

Extends the prior offense evidence rule to include attempts to commit any of the listed offenses, including sexual assault crimes, child pornography, criminal transmission of HIV, kidnapping, aggravated kidnaping, and child abduction.

Allows courts to consider prior offense evidence for crimes involving battery, aggravated battery, first or second degree murder with sexual elements, and formerly classified crimes such as rape and deviate sexual assault.

Requires prosecutors to disclose evidence of prior offenses to the defense at a reasonable time before trial, or during trial if the court excuses pretrial notice for good cause.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
