HB5282 Summary

• Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to add requirements for sex offenders on parole, aftercare release, mandatory supervised release, probation, conditional discharge, or supervision to attend group meetings with other sex offenders on Halloween and any day children under 18 participate in Halloween activities.

• Requires meetings to be held at times coinciding with Halloween activities set by the municipality (or county if unincorporated) where the offender resides, at a location designated by supervising officers from the Department of Corrections or Probation and Court Services Department.

• Meetings must be supervised by parole agents, aftercare specialists, probation officers, or supervising officers assigned by the appropriate department.

• Applies these Halloween attendance requirements to individuals convicted of sex offenses as defined in the statute across multiple supervision types: parole (Section 3-3-7(a)(16.5)), probation (Section 5-6-3(a)(10.5)), and supervision (Section 5-6-3.1(c)(18.5)).
