State Superintendent of Education shall appoint a task force to review standardized assessments in Illinois schools.

Task force composition includes 19 appointed members representing parents, educators, administrators, board members, higher education institutions, and subject matter experts, plus 4 legislative members appointed by Senate President, Senate Minority Leader, House Speaker, and House Minority Leader.

Task force shall meet at least 4 times and review standardized assessment content, design, time and money expended on test preparation, and perceptions of assessment intensity across a regionally representative sample of at least 5% of school districts statewide.

Task force must report findings to Governor and General Assembly no later than May 31, 2015, after which the task force is dissolved.

Act takes effect July 1, 2014, with the task force authority scheduled to expire June 1, 2015.
