Department of Financial and Professional Regulation shall provide written examinations in Chinese, Korean, Spanish, or Vietnamese languages upon applicant request for cosmetology, esthetics, hair braiding, and nail technology licenses.

Department must adopt rules prior to offering exams in these languages to ensure proper translation and consistency in knowledge tested and difficulty level.

Department is not required to administer exams in these languages if it determines English language proficiency is a necessary qualification for the specific license sought.

Amendments apply to Section 3-6 of the Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Act of 1985, with this section scheduled for repeal on January 1, 2016.
