HB5735 - Home Repair and Construction Task Force Act

• Creates a 17-member Home Repair and Construction Task Force to study whether Illinois should require licensing of home repair and construction contractors through the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

• Task Force membership includes legislators from both chambers, state officials, industry representatives (home builders and repair contractors), consumer advocates, unions, municipalities, counties, and insurance industry representatives appointed by specified state officials.

• Task Force shall determine whether licensure is needed, and if so, recommend qualification requirements, grounds for license denial or revocation, and other relevant licensing considerations.

• Task Force must submit findings and recommendations to the General Assembly no later than November 1, 2015, after which the Task Force dissolves.

• Act automatically repeals on January 1, 2016.
