Pension fund members convicted of or pleading guilty to job-related felonies (including public corruption crimes and theft of governmental property) forfeit all pension benefits attributable to their service.

Pension recipients convicted of Class X or Class 1 felonies have their annuity or pension payments suspended during incarceration, with the ability to request reinstatement after completing their sentence.

Forfeited benefits result in refund of employee contributions only if necessary for the pension fund to maintain qualified plan status under federal tax law.

Provision applies retroactively to all pension fund members regardless of whether they were in service before or after the law's effective date.
