IL HB5860

Amends the Illinois Pension Code by adding Sections 3-148.5 and 4-139.5 to the Downstate Police and Firefighter Articles.

Grants municipalities the right to appear as a matter of right in any proceeding involving a duty disability benefit, even if not otherwise a party to the proceeding.

Applies to both the police (Section 3-148.5) and firefighter (Section 4-139.5) pension articles.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
