IL HR1026

Designates the week of April 28 - May 4, 2014 as "Navy Week" in the State of Illinois to honor the United States Navy and its personnel.

Recognizes the U.S. Navy's historical service from the Revolutionary War through current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, including its humanitarian missions worldwide.

Acknowledges Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois, which hosts the Navy's only Recruit Training Command (graduating 37,000 sailors annually) and Training Support Center Great Lakes (graduating 25,000 students annually).

Honors the thousands of Illinois citizens currently serving or who have served in the U.S. Navy, and notes that Navy ships USS Illinois and USS Springfield are named after Illinois cities.

Directs presentation of a copy of this resolution to Secretary of the Navy Raymond Mabus as a symbol of esteem and respect.
