More than 15% of Illinoisans and 22% of Illinois children struggle with food insecurity, with Illinois ranking 24th nationally for childhood hunger.

Encourages schools to implement alternative breakfast delivery models such as Breakfast in the Classroom, Grab n' Go, and Second Chance Breakfast to provide free breakfast after the school bell to all students.

Encourages Summer Food Service Program sites to operate as open community sites so all children can access healthy meals during summer months without enrollment requirements.

Encourages eligible providers to participate in Child and Adult Care Food Program Afterschool Meals Programs to expand meal access.

Urges Congress to develop a 2015 Child Nutrition Reauthorization to protect and strengthen federal food and nutrition programs, and opposes any funding cuts to federal nutrition programs for children and families.
