Illinois has 98,353 Medicare-eligible retired state employees, teachers, and community college employees participating in state health insurance plans.

Beginning February 1, 2014, all Medicare-eligible participating members must enroll in Medicare Advantage plans instead of their previous health insurance plans.

The resolution urges the legislature to allow Medicare-eligible members to remain in Quality Care Health Plans rather than automatically enrolling in Medicare Advantage plans to preserve established doctor-patient relationships.

The resolution requests the Department of Central Management Services continue assisting members with the transition to new health insurance plans to minimize disruption to healthcare relationships and timely access to medical procedures, medications, and devices.
