Margaret Louise Moore of Cairo passed away on November 14, 2014; the Illinois House of Representatives mourns her passing and extends condolences to her family and friends.

Born June 30, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky; earned Bachelor of Science, Master's, and Doctorate degrees from Southern Illinois University; retired from Harrisburg School System on June 1, 1994.

During her career, secured cable TV channel and Texas Tie-in Distant Learning Program for schools at no cost; participated in establishing libraries at Eastside and Westside Elementary Schools and modernizing the public library.

Married James Frederick Moore on October 28, 1944; served as 4-H and Girl Scout leader, member of First Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Daughters of the American Revolution, and multiple non-profit organizations.

Survived by her husband of 70 years, one son, two daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
