Congratulates Jose Dariel Abreu Correa on being named the 2014 Major League Baseball American League Rookie of the Year in a unanimous vote by the Baseball Writers Association of America on November 10, 2014.

Abreu was born January 29, 1987 in Cruces, Cienfuegos Province, Cuba and defected to the Dominican Republic in August 2013 before signing with the Chicago White Sox in October 2013.

During the 2014 season, Abreu recorded 176 hits, 107 runs batted in, 80 runs, a .383 on-base percentage, and 36 home runs, setting a new White Sox rookie year record for home runs.

Abreu was selected to the 2014 MLB All-Star Game and received the Silver Slugger Award as the best offensive player at first base in the American League.
