Illinois House of Representatives congratulates Pat Schmeder of Smithton on being recognized as "ELITE" (Extraordinary Leaders Impacting Today's Environment) by the Center for Racial Harmony.

Schmeder served as a volunteer with Heartlinks Grief Center at Family Hospice in Belleville, helping grow the organization from serving a few children and families annually to serving over 1,000 local youth yearly.

Schmeder's community service includes 15 years on the advisory board for RSVP, a group serving local older adults, and volunteering at the Labor and Industry Museum in Belleville to educate school tour groups on Metro East history.

Schmeder received her award at a banquet at The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville on October 19, 2014.

A suitable copy of the resolution shall be presented to Pat Schmeder as an expression of esteem and respect.
