Acknowledges Schmitz's numerous awards including Legislator of the Year, Outstanding Legislator from the Illinois Bankers Association, Champion of Free Enterprise from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, and Fireman of the Year in 2005.

Highlights that Schmitz has served as a firefighter and emergency medical technician with the Batavia Fire Department since 1984 while holding elected office, and holds a degree in Public Administration and Political Science from Augustana College.
