IL SB0069

Requires persons with valid Firearm Owner's Identification Cards to report the loss or theft of a handgun to local law enforcement within 72 hours of discovering the loss or theft.

Creates a new petty offense for first-time violations of the handgun loss or theft reporting requirement, and a Class A misdemeanor for second or subsequent violations.

Authorizes the Department of State Police to revoke and seize a Firearm Owner's Identification Card if a person fails to report the loss or theft of a handgun a second time within the 72-hour timeframe.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
