IL SB1170

Amends the Illinois Wildlife Code Section 2.33 to add subsection (nn) prohibiting possession of any wildlife or wildlife parts taken unlawfully in Illinois, any other state, or any country, regardless of whether the species is native to Illinois.

Establishes a statute of limitations for unlawful possession of wildlife or wildlife parts that does not expire until 2 years after the possession has permanently ended.

Maintains existing prohibitions on illegal hunting and trapping methods, including restrictions on guns in state refuges, snares, ferrets, spears, poisons, explosives, and silencers.

Preserves existing regulations on hunting equipment and ammunition, including shotgun capacity limits, blaze orange clothing requirements during deer season, and restrictions on hunting near dwellings and public rights-of-way.

Allows exceptions for disabled persons and specific authorized activities such as field trials, licensed game breeding preserves, and migratory waterfowl hunting under federal regulations.
