IL SB1307

Lowers the compulsory school attendance age from 7 years old to 6 years old (on or before September 1) beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, while maintaining the upper age limit of 17 years old.

Maintains all existing exemptions to compulsory attendance including private/parochial school attendance, physical or mental disability, lawful employment, religious holidays, and confirmation classes.

Extends enrollment requirements for students not of compulsory school age (under 6 or 17 and older) who are enrolled in grades kindergarten through 12, with the same exemptions applying from Section 26-1.

Permits school districts to deny enrollment to students 17 years or older for one semester for failure to meet minimum academic standards (less than "D" average) or attendance standards (20% or more unexcused absences) if specific conditions are met, including notice and right to appeal.

Requires school districts to identify, track, and report on reenrolled dropouts as a separate subset and prohibits counting students who drop out again against the district's dropout rate performance measure.
