IL SB1331

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to authorize the Director of Juvenile Justice to execute consent for medical or other health treatment on behalf of persons committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Requires the Department of Juvenile Justice to provide admitted persons with information about HIV and AIDS in writing, verbally, or electronically, developed in consultation with the Department of Public Health.

Mandates that the Department offer free HIV testing to admitted persons upon intake, with procedures for opt-out testing using approved tests and supplemental testing for positive results.

Requires signage in multiple languages in testing areas informing committed persons about HIV testing procedures and documenting refusal or acceptance in medical records.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
