SB1346 Amendment Summary

• Amends Illinois Municipal Code to grant municipalities with fewer than 500,000 inhabitants that maintain public airports the power to plan, market, and support integrated passenger transportation including financial support for facilities and cooperative marketing materials.

• Amends Airport Authorities Act, Interstate Airport Authorities Act, Park District Code, and County Airports Act to grant similar powers for integrated passenger transportation (defined as integration of surface, rail, and air passenger transportation services and facilities).

• Requires municipalities, airport authorities, park districts, and county airport commissions seeking federal grant assistance for integrated passenger transportation to consult with the Department of Transportation Secretary, local mass transit districts, Regional Transportation Authority, and municipal planning organizations before final grant submission.

• Mandates written approval from the Governor before any entity exercises powers granted by this legislation to plan, market, and support integrated passenger transportation.

• Prohibits use of Road Fund moneys to implement these sections; effective upon becoming law.
