IL SB1397

Amends the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Law to require the Academy to develop an additional residential campus in a county with a population less than 400,000.

Maintains that the primary Academy remains a residential institution located in the Fox River Valley near Illinois national science laboratories.

Permits the Academy to develop additional non-residential campuses throughout the state, while the new required campus must provide residential facilities.

Academy continues to operate as a State agency funded by state appropriations, private contributions, and endowments with minimal fees charged to residential students.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
