IL SB1398

Creates the Early Graduation Tuition Waiver Act, offering tuition waivers to students who graduate from Illinois secondary schools in less than 4 school years.

Eligible students receive waivers to public universities (University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, or Western Illinois University).

Waiver length equals the difference between 8 semesters and the actual number of semesters the student was enrolled in grades 9 through 12.

Waivers exempt holders from tuition, matriculation, graduation, activity, term, and incidental fees, but not book rental, service, laboratory, supply, or other specified fees.

Takes effect July 1, 2013, with the State Board of Education receiving and awarding applications annually.
