Front windshields cannot have any signs, posters, window applications, reflective material, or tinted film, except nonreflective tinted film along the uppermost 6 inches from the top of the windshield.

Windows immediately adjacent to the driver's side can have nonreflective tinted film only if rear windows have at least 30-35% light transmittance and the side window tint allows at least 35-50% light transmittance, with a 5% variance tolerance.

Medical exemptions allow window treatment for persons with conditions like lupus erythematosus, actinic porokeratosis, or albinism that require sun protection, requiring a physician's certified statement carried in the vehicle and renewed annually.

Vehicles with treated rear windows must be equipped with side mirrors on each side in conformance with Section 12-502.

Violations are petty offenses with fines of $50-$500 for first offense and Class C misdemeanors with fines of $100-$500 for subsequent violations; violators must alter nonconforming windows into compliance.
