SB1527 Summary

• Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to repeal sections authorizing automated speed enforcement systems (Section 11-208.8) and automated traffic law enforcement systems (Section 11-208.6)

• Removes references to automated speed enforcement violations and automated traffic law violations throughout the Vehicle Code, including from provisions governing license suspension and administrative adjudication of violations

• Eliminates the authority for municipalities to use photographic, video, or imaging systems to record vehicle speeds for speed limit enforcement, except in highway construction or maintenance zones where a law enforcement officer is present

• Modifies definitions and procedures in Sections 3-400, 6-306.5, 11-208, 11-208.3, and 11-612 to remove automated enforcement system provisions while retaining regulations for parking, standing, and compliance violations

• Makes automated traffic law enforcement for red light violations (Section 11-1201.1) the only remaining form of automated traffic enforcement in Illinois
