• Extends health care contribution payments from pension boards to the City of Chicago through December 31, 2016 (previously set to expire June 30, 2013).

• Maintains monthly payment amounts of $95 for annuitants not eligible for Medicare and $65 for those eligible for Medicare, beginning July 1, 2008.

• Applies to six pension systems: Sections 5-167.5, 6-164.2, 8-164.1, 8-164.2, 11-160.1, and 11-160.2 of the Illinois Pension Code.

• Clarifies that these health care contributions are not pension or retirement benefits under the Illinois Constitution.

• Takes effect upon becoming law.
